Tiramisu is a creamy dessert that combines chocolate, coffee, savoiadi, cookies, and Mascagni cheese. Kyle Phillips, who fell inlove with Tiramisu, wondered about the background of Tiramisu and started to research it. Tiramisu was develiped in the 60's by Treciso's Ristorante EL Toula.
Klye found a bunch of web pages and discovered that the Sienese developed the dessert for a Duke as a gift for a state visit. Tiramisu was originally called Zuppa del Duca, which means Duke's Pudding. This was very popular amongst courtesans and eventually started to call it tiramisu shich means pick me up. Tiramisu was spread to Venice and the Veneto in which it was a local dessert. Then in the late 70's, tiramisu spread nationally due to popularity. Although, this is the information Kyle found about tiramisu, meaning that he still has his doubts about if this is all true or not. Kyle was some what suspecious when he can't find any information on it in any cookbooks. Also the American food writer Nancy Jency, lived in Italy for eight years, only first had it and heard of it when she was on the island of Torcello in the Laguna Veneta. Basically the real, true origins of Tiramisu may just be a mystery.
